The Hamas year.
Soldiers are kidnapped and murdered by Hamas terrorists. 16 people are killed in a bus of Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Many civilians are the victim of knife assassinations under this of the historians and Israel prize-winners Menachem Stern. Terrorist bases in the South Lebanon shoot at Israel's settlements in the north with Katyusha rockets. These terrorists are mainly members of the Shiite organization Hezbollah which is connected to Palestinian terrorists. Israel carries off one of the Hezbollah leaders in the South Lebanon at the end of July: Sheikh Obeid.
The quarrel about the enclave Taba with Egypt is ended.
Hungary takes diplomatic relations, which had been ended after the Six Day War of 1967, as the first country of the Eastern Bloc.
Record unemployment. 150'000 Israelis are looking for a job.
